This meeting is about our current projects: “Italian pictures”, “The gangway,” “Learning at RUC 21st century workshops,” and we will also discuss possible future projects in collaboration with Experimentarium, BiMus, Roskilde Museum, and DigHumLab.
We are still waiting with bated breath for the answer to our Marie Curie application.
The first meeting between Experience Lab and Experimentarium was held on Wednesday 6th February at Experimentarium’s new temporary location next to Copenhagen harbour. There are many topics of common interest and possible future collaboration such as new kinds of interactive learning experience, creative use of audio and visual media and intelligent interaction. Present at the meeting were Morten Busch and Anne Kahr Hällman from Experimentarium, and Sanne Krogh Groth and John Gallagher from Experience Lab.
It has just been decided to co-ordinate the diverse activities of some of the labs at Roskilde University – ExLab, HUM-TEK, and a Performance Design workshop – and to share the resources allocated. The organizing principles of this initiative are inspired by the FAB LAB movement an the related ideas.
In the meeting, Friday November 15, Jens Friis Jensen, Connie Svabo, Michael Haldrup and Sisse Siggaard Jensen discussed how best to initiate this, and also, how to coordinate and share resources.
As a first step, we decided to meet once a month to establish some of the needs and requirements of this initiative.
Roskilde University is represented by me in a committee of partners from different professions and institutions in the Roskilde/Sjælland region. The committee is assembled to discuss ideas and projects with the potential to further develop and innovate, among others, the collaboration among the participating partners, the kinds of services that the partners provide, and the possible new experiences that the region makes possible and the participating partners can envisage.

A course for computer science and informatics students was held in the Experience Lab for 5 weeks starting late April 2013 until the 24th May. 18 students took part, and the course was taught by Morten Brandrup and John Gallagher.
The practical focus of the course was on building interactive software systems using two platforms: Unity3D and openFrameworks, and natural physical interaction with body tracking using Kinect or camera, a remote control with gestures or a wireless controller. The theory in the course included aspects of the design of different kinds of interactive experience, including aspects such as narrative and context.
We invite our colleagues to celebrate with us the new Experience Cylinder installation.
